You’ve all seen the viral Avada Kedavra TikToks and of course you can get on the trend with any of our official Harry Potter wands here (...or any objects at all, really).

But for those who want their own custom wand, here’s a simple DIY to show you how so you can get ready for Harry Potter Day on May 2nd 2022!

What You’ll Need:

- Cheap paint brushes or chopsticks

- Hot glue gun and glue

- White spray paint or thick white paint (gesso, impasto, etc rather than acrylic)

- Acrylic Paints (your choice of colours)

- Your choice of embellishments (rhinestones, glitter, feathers, beads, twine etc)

Note: Use of hot glue gun may require adult assistance or supervision.

Steps To Make Your Own Wand:

Step 1

First, take the hot glue gun and make a wand handle by layering glue to the thicker end of the chopstick (or the brush end of the paint brush - cut off the bristles).

You can add your own flair here by adding a gem, marble or rhinestone to the tip and/or wrapping twine around the handle.

(Tip: keep the hot glue gun at a low-medium temperature so the glue doesn’t drip or run. If it gets too hot, turn the glue gun off for a bit).

Step 2

Next, decorate the wand with hot glue in the style you choose.

- You can hot glue a vine pattern down the length of the wand;

- Add spots or swirls to the wand;

- Add stripes or lines;

- Or leave it blank for painting designs on later.

(Tip: Small beads can help create texture)

Step 3

Using spray paint or white paint, coat the wand as a base coat. Be sure to cover any embellishments you don’t want to be painted. Let dry.
